The play lasted longer than one could have expected and everyone was rushing down the street to the latest public trolley.. it was snowing- must have been for couple of hours by then since the frosted ground was already covered in white…. the cold started going through shivering body and reached the lines on the face of tears from just a while ago…it was either a lack of vitamins or the play was touching, indeed.
No sound was heard on the street, even walking itself was silent. Only some lines from actor’s begging eyes were echoing in the back of mind. The breath was getting heavier and she finally lifted her head. She was slightly shocked to find the street empty expect for her. Some cars were choosing nearby streets and people had gone different ways, as well. The snow was falling heavily in rich handfuls of snowflakes, taking a bow in the light of street-lamps. Something trembled inside. The fullness of perfect loneliness. even two-chaired-tables didn’t seem to bother her anymore.
All of a sudden, some car hooted and passed by quickly leaving her half alive, half dead in the snowdrift. She never lost her habit to walk, basically, in the middle of the street instead of trying to fit into curvy churned up sidewalks.
The food store was empty with sleepy cashiers killing the last hour of their endless day. It was rather embarrassing to leave wet foot prints on a freshly washed floor but the temptation for juicy tangerines was bigger.
It didn’t look that cold outside this time. For some unknown reasons it occurred to her it would have been a nice to go and give a surprise visit to him using tangerines as an excuse. She could already feel the smell of hot cappuccino and incense in the room with some relaxing music which was always in the background of their enthusiastic conversations. Some passing cars on the street that were heard easily through old windows.. she pressed the sack with tangerines harder being more sure of her decision and started walking faster ignoring wet feet and snowflakes running straight into her eyes. It was a good decision. No doubt. It was honest. He said he loved honesty once…..
Left flash light. Some heavy slash in the chest.
There were still some tangerines lying around and red snow on the street next morning. One turn from the window with hot cappuccino and incense….
