The butcher is standing outside his shop watching the people go by. He waves to the lady in the green dress and nods his head to a neighbour's kid. It's just another day in the village. A group of chatting girls burst into a salon and let hairdresser Sarah do what she has to do to make them look pretty. The girls are going out tonight, you know.
The butcher is watching the street of his beloved village. Two old ladies are buying vegetables in the market, then they visit his shop and buy a beautiful rack of ribs. Each. They'll cook the most amazing dinner tonight. Spiced up with love and affection.
There is a man in the middle of the street holding a huge camera. He is taking pictures of the town. His wife was born here and they came back from „the big city“ to see what has changed. Not much, by the look of it, but the sun is so bright today, all the colours of spring just want to be noticed. He is a photographer in the big city and he loves taking pictures. His name is George and he is good. George is capturing the memories of his wife's past.
Uniformed policeman just drove past the butcher and said „Hi“. That's how you treat people in your community. You acknowledge them and make sure they are noticed. It helps to motivate them to behave. Policeman knows that the butcher is a great man and when policeman's girlfriend will go to the butcher's shop to buy some chicken wings for Sunday's BBQ, Sam the butcher will give some for free. Just because he can.
A teacher is rushing home, because she is waiting for a phone call. Her daughter said she will call at 3pm and now it's nearly 3pm, but the teacher is still not home yet. She got held up in school and she doesn't want to miss that call. Katie, her daughter, is the only thing left in her life and she wants to hear Katie's voice. Sam the butcher knows she'll make it home in time.
There is nothing unusual about this village. There is nothing special about it either. It's just a lovely place to live and visit. By the way, it's an open secret, but you might want to know that anyway. Butcher Sam and teacher Margaret fancy each other. A little bit.

Butcher Peter is standing outside his shop watching the people go by. He doesn't know half of them. Peter knows that some of them moved from another village, but he never receives a nod back from them. Some girls walk past him talking in a foreign language and ignore his „Good day to you“. Peter feels slightly sad and unappreciated.
The salon next door is empty.
The policeman just drove past Peter's shop ignoring people in the street. He is too busy enjoying his new Mondeo.
Young girl is standing in the street with her SLR hanging around her neck. She bought the camera second hand from Ebay and now the girl (Edith) thinks she is a photographer. She knows nothing about perfect lighting, right angle or settings on her SLR. But hell yeah, she thinks she's great. Edith is pretty stupid.
Opinion
Nowadays everybody thinks they are something else! If you own a good quality camera, you're a bloody photographer. If you bought expensive hair straighteners, you're a flipping hairdresser. If you know how to cook a simple omelette, you publish a cook book and pretend you're as good as Michelin star chef.
People are ridiculous these days. I despise humans like this.
