It started as a fun day in the city
cycling around in the sun, observing the movement
of a bustling metropolis;

flowing through its arteries, then getting off the horse
on my own two feet
visiting the place of artists and misfits
soaking in the atmosphere and venturing onwards –

curiosity to discover new places let me to a bar
where I met the most fascinating woman
which will turn out to be a blasting shock
that brought my idle heart back to life

it started as a simple ask to sit nearby
which led to talking
which led to smiling and laughing
which led to walking out together for a stroll
the night was still young so we found ourselves
a game to play – no better game than chess –
shall we make it more interesting and bet, I said
ok, if you win I will let you kiss me, she replied
couldn’t think of a better bet than that

it was perfect, the match and its outcome
we stepped outside and kissed, slowly and passionately
you took a step on a few stairs to outreach me
and then we kissed more, oblivious to space around us

time was also irrelevant because the moment was timeless
we melted and forged one thing made of us two

eventually got back to our lovely town
walking you home was being engrained in my memory in real time
what happened later will stay between us
but rest assured it was unreal
could be one of those romantic novels or movies
except that it happened for real

that alone made Saturday a day for the ages
and whatever happens next
I will be happy I shared it with you
