Just Make It Through The Day

Frozen in place,
I am standing still.
Shivering from the cold,
Forgotten and alone.

And then comes along,
This hopeful cheerful song.
It rings throughout my brain
And clears up my day:

“Just make it through today,
So you can live another day.
Just work until your arms fall off
And then find energy to stitch them back on. ”

I sing this to myself,
And I find energy to live.
The song, it rings so true,
Like a ballad of life rules.

“Just make it through today,
So you can live another day.
Just rest until you fall sleep
And then dream of sleeping in a sandy beach. ”

This balance is all there is in life,
Work like mad and rest all night.
There’s no way to disturb these rules,
For all of eternity we must follow like mules.
