under the extraterrestrial ship of a cloud
always above, reflected in our narrow eyes
in the way we walk and say goodbyes
we are less and less lonely, all of us here
it's good you visit us in summer

On the quiet border
blackberries are heavy with sun
they fall down from your thoughts of their chalky skin

it's the end of the season and we are no longer safe
second quilts, dried-out windows, too large a harvest of juicy tomatoes
we have never been so indestructible and so ready to die
in these meadows, slowly taken by the sun
