Before it all began

The singer died and in her death
she suddenly weighed slightly more
as when she was just out of school
she cleared her throat and left her tatooed body, her last afternoon

in the preceding days she didn't have any premonitory dreams
in fact she slept very soundly, although in a somewhat unusual pattern
and she didn't feel the urge to speak to anyone in particular
just the usual longing

she went for a stroll down her favourite road
and her worn-our pumps still lie on the corner where she took off

her dog in his faithful manner followed her flight
looking up in his unquestioning understanding
he ignored her gentle encouragements to return and then louder shouts
and this was what made her cry

she left just before it all began
