Pear in the Bottle
How did I get in there?
The sad thing is
That I grew up in there.
I did.
I heard the spring rain beating on the bottle grass,
I never tasted rain.
The thunder tried to strike me many times-
I saw it, heard it, never felt the pain.
My skin was sweating in the summer sun –
I thought I will dry out
And be a part of tea.
You will just drink me and forget
That pleasant taste,
That summer sweat.
But here I am –
I’m standing on your table
Soaked up with brandy
And all wrapped up.
PRODUCT OF GERMANY
You read it on the label.
I sit inside the bottle thinking:
They cannot torture humans anymore,
They torture pears instead.
