The hall they entered was a little smaller than the First Circle, but it was hard to decide how much – the place was very twilit. As the door closed behind them, it got really dark. They could only see strange shapes of grey mist, covering the ground and their legs, and ghostly contours of spider-webs, hanging from the ceiling. The air was cold, a little mould.
“This place gives me creeps. ” – Orion smirked. –“I mean it. ”
“It really isn’t as amusing as the previous, ” – Ignes agreed. A cold draught flew whistling out of the deep shadows.
“Previous was the Circle of Living, ” Gabriel said. – “So this…”
“Let me guess. A Circle of Dead? ” – Armo noticed. Gabriel mumbled in agreement, nervously squeezing the Books. Some squeaking sound echoed in the depth of hall.
“No way! ” – Orion grinned ironically. – “What, do we hear dead guys? ”
“Shut up, Orion, ” – Ignes growled. He didn’t feel cozy in such place at all. Who would? Darkness, cold, strange sounds…
“What we lack is a ghost now, ” – Armand said. At these words Gabriel screamed. Orion sprang next to her.
  “Gabi? What the heck…”
“Something touched my legs! Oh my god, it was so cold! ”
“It’s okay, Gabriel, calm down… “- Armand said, looking around, hoping to notice the mysterious attacker. So did Ignes. Orion took the girl by the hand.
“No worries, Gabi, we’re here… ” – he said, then shouted at the boys. – “Hey mates, we need to get outa here.  The sooner the better. ”
“We know that, Orion… Let’s go, then, ” – Ignes replied.
  “Where? ”
“Wherever is better than this. We have to find the door to the next circle. ”
“We wouldn’t see it in the darkness! ” – Gabriel cried.
“That’s why we must go along the wall. ” – Armand told. – “I go first; everyone put your hands on the wall if I’d miss. And don’t get lost. ”
“Yeah right, as if you’d ever miss, ” – Ignes whispered, but not angrily. In previous hall he proved he also had some guts. That meant some self-confidence to him, and now he was sure he could do well when needed. But in this place… If Armand can do it, he should. Ignes loathed darkness like this. Thick, cold, humid darkness…
Armand’s steps were slightly sounding on stone floor; Orion went on that direction with Gabriel hanging on his arm; his heavy steps echoed loudly. Ignes followed them as a shadow not to get lost, until his hand touched a cold, damp, rough stone wall. Blonde felt shivers.
“Everyone’s here? ” he heard Armo’s voice. Orion urged him to go.
They started to go along the wall. Tension was in the air, because everyone was nervous, expecting to quickly be knee-grabbed by a ghost. Weird squeaks echoed all around the hall.
Suddenly Ignes hit Orion’s back. He and Gabriel stopped.
“Orion, why…” – Blonde started to ask, but Orion broke off his question.
  “Hush… Look up. ”
Ignes raised his eyes. The ceiling of the hall was less twilit. The cause of light was clear – dozens of white misty shapes were soundlessly raging right above their heads. By the time the four noticed the spirits, one white shape dived down to them and flied over their heads. Then the second, third… All of them suddenly raged down on the four.
Ignes quickly covered his head. Smoke shapes scratched his hand. Blonde moaned.
“Get down! ” Armand shouted, after finally noticing the unexpected danger. The others were quick to listen.
“Dammit! Now that’s really freaking! Spirits that cut! ” Orion grumbled, covering Gabriel. Ignes pressed his back to the wall.
  “Why are they attacking? ”
  “No idea, mate. ”
“But we haven’t done anything to them, have we? ” – Gabriel cried.
“No idea. Hey, Armo, what you think? ”
“I think we’re not very welcome guests… Wait… How foolish I am! I have an idea. If I’m right… Orion, you smoke? ”
  “W-what? ”
“Do you have a lighter? Quick! ”
  “A, that… Duh. ”
“Take it and light it up! ”
  “What for? ”
  “Just do it! ”
Ignes heard Orion ransacking his pockets, and in a moment a small light appeared next to him.
The light seemed to be scaring spirits. They flew backwards from flocked Orion and Gabriel and Ignes, and only screamed harsher.
“It works! ” – Orion shouted. Ignes breathed in easier.
“Don’t wait there, follow me! ” – Armo commanded.
Spirits dived on them again, but couldn’t reach. They were drawn away by that small light. However, their squeaks were ear-tearing. Gabriel wept, holding her ears; Orion feverishly waved the lighter to scare away the smoke shapes.
Suddenly Ignes felt a warmer surface instead of rock. He realized it was door.  He called everyone to come.
“Why didn’t they find the door? ” – Blonde thought.
Orion’s lighter light up a normal-sized round white door. In blank light they saw  clear golden runes.
“Gabi, quick! ” – Ignes shouted. A spirit blustered over his head. The worried girl almost tumbled over the door, trying to read faster.
“The… bright?.. shall go, and… dark…shall stay… forever … Orion, don’t move the lighter! Forever… with the dead to lay! There is no way to… change… the price…
  Light suddenly disappeared.
“Oh no! Not now! ” – Orion yelled and swore. – “The gas went out! ”
A furious scream echoed above their heads.
“I don’t understand what the meaning is. ” – Ignes said. He was stroking the surface of door with a hand. It was wooden. “It should yield to Orion’s strength… But Armand mentioned spells… If I could only find out! ”
Something clacked in his mind. I was his Power. Blonde remembered how he once put a hand on handle and all of the memories of people who touched it flashed through his mind. “I could try…” - He thought and put his fingers on the handle and closed his eyes. The door seemed like… alive! He felt people’s hands that once touched the handle… It was like ages of memories. But that was not what Ignes wanted. He had to penetrate deeper. His hands trembled, temples started to twinkle because of tension. Blonde tried to remember how it feels to find magic.
A purple flash quickly ran through his mind and disappeared. Ignes remembered. „It would have been pulsing flash, if it had been enchanted... „ - he thought.
“Push the door! Now! ” – Blonde commanded.
  “Oh, no… I won’t do that again! ” – Orion retorted.
“This time’ it’s different! Help me! Where’s Armand?! ”
“Keep up, I’m right behind you! ” – Armo’s voice sounded from somewhere further. “Why in the world he wandered off? ” – Blonde thought.
“Orion, Ignes knows what he’s saying! ” Gabriel shouted and cried out. Spirit scratched her. Orion swore.
“Alright, here goes! Three, two, one…”
Ignes placed his hands on door and pushed; Orion set his shoulder and also bolted.
The white door yielded and opened with a ray of white light. They bursted into the space and tumbled on the ground.
For a few moments Ignes was completely blinded by a bright white light. He couldn’t help feeling something was not right.
The door closed with a loud bang behind their backs. Orion raised his head as his sight got normal again. They were in a completely white hall. It was hard to discern walls from floor or ceiling. Hall was decorated with a maze of white pillars.
  “Finally! Safe…” – Orion grumbled.
Ignes looked around. Then gasped and looked at Orion.
“What? ” – The guy asked foolishly.
“Orion, Gabriel…” – Ignes whispered. – “Where is Armand? ”
